Trip to Bavaria

05 February

The journey started in Brussels with a flight to Salzburg, only an hour and a half. Landed in Salzburg, we had to take the train to Munich and from there another train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We arrived at Staudacherhof hotel and immediately felt home. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. He led us to our beautiful, renovated room. An area surrounded with insane mountains and snow, wherever you look. I was there with a friend and Instagrammer from my hometown Ken Costers (@kencosters).

After a good and tasteful breakfast we had a personal meet with Liza, she was responsible for the Marketing & Sales of Staudacherhof. She had some tips and recommendations that we could do during our stay at the Hotel. After the meet we grabbed our gear and took the bus to Badersee. It’s only a few kilometers away from the famous Eibsee lake, but certainly a good stop. We didn’t have luck by our side because the weather was very cloudy and misty so we could never see the mountains around the lake.

The next day we woke up around 6.30 because we knew that it was going to be a clear and sunny day, the perfect weather to go to the AlpspiX. It was so nice to see those insane mountains in this area. It took us only 10 minutes to get to the top of AlpspiX. After a few hours of hiking we wanted to visit Badersee again but this time we hoped that there was a clear reflection. And yes it was, it’s funny to see how powerful nature can be. In only 24 hours this lake look completely different.

We arrived at the hotel room around 21:00. We were extremely tired and really hungry, so it was an amazing feeling to finally get to our room. In our room we had an awesome rain shower, man I can guarantee you it’s a must have after a full day of hiking. We could finally relax and subside. After about an hour or so we decided to have dinner in an Italian restaurant not too far from our hotel. Satisfied, we went back to our hotel where we edited some of our photos. After this we decided to have a good night rest on the great mattresses.

On Wednesday we wanted to visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle but yet again it was completely cloudy and the bridge to go around the castle to get some good shots was completely frozen so we had to change plans and decided to go to Geroldsee and Riessersee. Our second stay for the remaining two days was at the Riessersee Hotel.

We had a room with a view on the lake and the mountains around it. After the breakfast we discovered the area around Riessersee. On Wednesday and Thursday I had the chance to take over the account of @germanytourism. I also received a portable wifi device so that I could share my photos with their account. It was such a luxury to have this device with us and being able to use it at all times.

It was my first time in this region, but I definitely know that we will be coming back as soon as possible. Thanks again to Staudacherhof and Riessersee for having us! It was a pleasure to visit this area and we hope to see you soon!
